Recent Passing – Evelyn Nichols

NICHOLS, Evelyn Muriel (née Sayers) February 7, 1924 – September 25, 2015 … She Truly Was Blessed With The Spirit Of A Warrior And The Heart Of An Angel … At Meadowview Villa Petrolia, a wonderful life ended on Friday, September 25, 2015 when Evelyn Nichols died peacefully, age 91, with her loving family by her side. She was the beloved wife of Malcolm V. Nichols for 66 years, dear mother to Brian Nichols, loving mother and mother-in-law of Paula Raychert and her husband Ken, and adored grandmother to Kristin and Kaitlin Raychert, all of Alberta. Born in Warwick Twp, Evelyn was the daughter of Wallace J Sayers and Clara M. (Ripley) Sayers. She is survived by her sisters Yvonne Fraser (Norman) and Eileen Baggs (Doug), brother Ronald Sayers and several remarkable nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her sisters Pauline Mondoux, Marie Sutton, Frances Showers, Carrie Mae Sayers and brothers Walter Sayers and Raymond Sayers. Evelyn was a lifelong resident of Sarnia, working for Bell Telephone, Manley’s and Lambton College. She was blessed with many dear and faithful friends both here and abroad. Her love of life took her around the world, she enjoyed a long companionship with her sorority sisters at Beta Sigma Phi, St. Giles Presbyterian Church and other associations. The family is very grateful for the care and compassion shown by Dr Susan Mather and the outstanding team of nurses, caregivers and staff at Meadowview Villa, and, all personal care workers from Bayshore Home Health in recent years. In lieu of flowers, please celebrate this life lived by donating to Médecins Sans Frontières – Doctors Without Borders or a charity or cause of your own. Resting at the D.J. ROBB FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE LTD., 102 Victoria Street N., Sarnia where services will commence on Wednesday, September 30 at 1:00 p.m. with interment to follow at Lakeview Cemetery.
