Sunday School for Children – St. Giles Presbyterian Church

Summer 2025

We have a dynamic summer coming up with 6 new summer staff leading Sunday School. We’ll be embracing the True North message that teaches us how to follow Jesus and walk in His way always so that we know we are heading in the right direction. While we wait for summer, we are beginning new curriculum that has a real camp look since it is created by the same company as Vacation Bible School- Group Publishing. Skyler the Bowerbird is our Bible Memory Buddy helping us to learn and remember the events just before and after Jesus died on the cross for us. “God showed His great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.” Romans 5:8

Spring 2025

For this season of Lent the focus is on the journey to the cross. Concepts explored will be sin, Christ’s blood shed for us, our sins being washed away, baptism to begin anew, growth as a follower of Jesus and eternal life. Our service goal is to collect $20 in the globe to send to Presbyterian World Service and Development so they can provide seeds and gardening supplies to help a struggling family feed themselves.

Winter 2024/25

Jesus is known by so many names! Each name helps us to learn more about Him. We’ll learn about Him as bread, light, the Prince of Peace, the Lion of Judah and Immanuel. Our Advent study using The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe gives us an imaginative way of thinking about Jesus and our faith journey.

After Christmas, we begin an investigation of feelings (fear, anger, sadness and joy). The Bible has a lot to say about emotions and Jesus felt them just like us. Then we will praise the LORD and celebrate that we are fearfully and wonderfully made as we learn about Christians in the Cook Islands. Here’s a video about the country prepared for the 2025 World Day of Prayer.

Fall 2024

Let’s spend some time learning about how others encountered Jesus from Zaccheus, Mary and Martha, the 10 lepers and an encounter at Simon the Pharisees house. These lessons are from our Dwell curriculum.

Summer 2024

Our summer staff members are ready for fun-filled Sunday experiences. The summer Sunday School lessons will begin with creation – a great topic to focus on while we are all enjoying God’s grand sunsets, the lake and all creatures wild and wonderful- the LORD God made them all. Stay after Sunday School to sample the weekly activity table.

DWELL children’s ministry and Sunday school curriculum actively engages kids in God’s story using interactive games, reflective wondering, dramatic storytelling, and a whole lot of fun.

Colourful story symbols create visual timelines; wondering questions draw children into God’s Big Story; DWELL is grounded in a Reformed perspective and solid pedagogy.

DWELL invites kids to find their place in God’s story, living into and out of it for the rest of their lives

We’re collecting donations of toilet paper this month. To make this World Changers fundraiser even more fun, we want to see how you can dress up or design your toilet paper! Your family can even book a time to come to the church and stack all the toilet paper into a big snowman or other creation.
